Ghostwriter*
This one isn’t mine. When Carl, my AI coach from Mindteam.ai asked which areas I’d never want AI involved in, Circa 250 was among the first answers out of my mouth. For seventeen years, these paragraphs have been where I think out loud, a weekly discipline of compression that forces me to figure out what I actually believe. So, for the first and only time, I handed the pen to The Machine. I gave it the previous three AI-related installments and pointed it toward the archive, giving it few other instructions. It produced this paragraph in less time than it takes me to choose a title. What it can’t know is what the originals cost: the false starts, the deleted sentences, the idea that only arrives after I’ve given up looking for it. That is the part I was protecting. Writing isn’t just output; it’s how I find out what I think. A ghostwriter can borrow the voice but not the finding. My Design History professor was right that nothing is values-free, this experiment included. I wanted to know whether you could tell, and whether I would care. I suspect you could, at least a little; borrowed sentences tend to show their seams. I know I care. I’m leaving the Executive AI Flow more capable and clearer about where the lines belong. Like Grandma’s backyard floodplain, the boundaries are what made the wandering worthwhile. Next week, I’m back.
